It was an eventful journey getting to Managua and Jesse didn’t make it – victim of so much travel and a worn out passport. Apparently, it’s now a security alert if your passport has a tear on the picture page. You might be a terrorist sneaking out of the country with a faked passport! Continental Airlines would not let him or his bags on the airplane. He sent me on without him because we thought he could get an emergency passport and get on a red eye. No such luck. He may have it today, but too late to his liking to join us for a shortened trip. I miss him!
Jon and Angela retrieved me from the airport last night and because the drive to San Juan del Sur is two and half hours, we stayed in Managua and took the drive in this morning. I loved the sight seeing and we actually made it without being stopped once by the policia! Like most Central American countries, the law enforcement tends to single out the gringos! But we took advantage of the drive to work on Jon’s presentation at the school tomorrow.
When we arrive in San Juan del Sur, we stopped for a cool one at the Pelican Eyes Resort. Wish I could have stayed there, but what I can afford was down the hill!
We then drove to Fred’s home, Jon’s friend who lives here and began to sort out the dental supplies we’ll share with the families that visit the clinic on Friday and Saturday.
