OSAT Gets Started

By June 5, 2009No Comments

We got started with the real work this morning, visiting two schools in Escamequita, giving dental hygiene talks and demonstrations. Giovanni, our interpreter, picked me up in San Juan del Sur at 8:15. We met up with Jon and Angela at Fred’s place and headed to the village. These kids were a tough audience, given the attention span, but John and Giovanni did a fantastic job!

First Jon (and Giovanni) tell tell the kids about the basic of dental care, including a demonstration using the big teeth. 🙂

Attention intensified when the kids learned they got fancy toothbrushes for answering questions and volunteering for the demonstration.

All in all, it was a great day. Jon encouraged everyone (and the family and friends) to come to the clinic tomorrow and Saturday. We’ll all be there in the morning, assuming party as much as did last night with Jon’s friend, Fred.
