Meditations August 24, 2010 – Life Always Says “Yes”
My daily Note from The Universe, sent out via email from Mike Dooley, always end with “Thought become things … choose the good ones.” As I relax here in my comfy meditation chair, it’s 100+ degrees outside, but I’m cool inside my little treehouse condo, looking out past the branches swaying in the summer breeze to the foothills of Mt. Diablo. It’s a dream come true.
I recall the summer between graduating from high school and starting at Northrop Tech when Pop walked away from the mortgage on Parmelee Avenue and we moved to a rental – a rear duplex on Raymond Street close to downtown Compton. I was granted one of the three bedrooms. Mable (my sister) and two-year-old Ouida had one, Steven and Carlos (my brothers) shared that last one, and Pop slept on the couch all day before leaving for the night shift.
Waterbeds were the thing then, so I had a twin. It was flush in one corner on the floor with the rest of the perimeter of the room lined with posters, cedar block shelves and my belongings. During the two years I lived there (before moving into the dorms my junior year), I collected magazine clippings that looked like the life I wanted. The majority of them were designer homes that looked over trees and rolling hills. Forty years later, I’m looking out at the same images as those that I closed my eyes to every night and opened them up to every morning.
Thoughts, visions, and intentions; faith, prayer and belief. See your dreams and desires. If they can successfully muffle the fear and doubt, Life, Love, God, Spirit, the Universe – whatever the name you give it – always says “Yes.”
