I was so anxiously awaiting the iPhone’s arrival to Verizon. But after reading Mossberg’s review in the WSJ last week, I think I’ll wait awhile. Given I grew up in technology, one might think I’d be on the other side of Geoffrey Moore’s chasm.  But I’ve gone mainstream!

I wonder if Moore’s theory of selling technology to the mainstream market (Crossing the Chasm, 1991) is still a topic in MBA marketing courses. I should be – it still appears to be very relevant. But what makes a early adopter  retreat to the mainstream? Is it because I’m an aging boomer? Have I grown weary of the increasing shorter and shorter cycles? Or is the still latent early adopter in me curious about the new smaller iPhone yet to be announced?

Twenty years later, where are your thoughts now, Geoffrey Moore?
