Our society, through the education system, has made the pursuit of work in the trades an unattractive career path. Over the last three decades, a college degree has been encouraged instead. Now there’s a glut of graduates forced to take jobs that use little or none of their skills. Over the same timeframe, manuafacturing marches offshore and the middle class dwindles right on pace with the gradual disappearance of trade professionals.
